    Position Summary

    Recovery Corps members serve one year making a difference in the lives of individuals who are in recovery from substance use disorders. As a Recovery Navigator, you will help program participants one-on-one and in group settings set goals, overcome barriers to goal success, increase their skills, find gainful employment, service, or training opportunities related to their goals, reduce substance use disorders, and ultimately maintain progress in their recovery.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions: ● Support participant in ongoing implementation of individualized service, education, and/or career plan. Create an action plan that will include clear education, employment, and/or service outcomes, while identifying barriers and their solutions. ● Track progress of plan and supports while facilitating advancement and goal progression. ● Link support services, education/training/service providers, career and industry information, and experiential opportunities ● Conduct cohort workshops in group settings regularly to support participants in reaching their goals. ● Provide support in one-to-one settings as needed for success. ● Work collaboratively with “service team” members, such as counselors, education providers, service programs, social services, industry representatives, and employers. ● Attend required Recovery, Leadership, and Global Career Development Facilitator training and other professional development activities throughout the year. Communication ● Develop a relationship of respect and trust with the site supervisor and other site staff members. ● Communicate and interact with participants in a culturally appropriate way. ● Communicate effectively, consistently, and professionally with Minnesota Recovery Corps staff. ● Fulfill program requirements and read and respond daily to email communications from Minnesota Recovery Corps staff, Site Supervisor and site or community partner personnel. Attendance ● Regular, timely attendance during business hours at the site (generally Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm). ● Commit to service for a full service term and serve the total amount of hours required. ● Attend all required Recovery Corps training sessions throughout the service term. Secondary Functions ● Attend service site-sponsored activities to represent Recovery Corps. ● Support program participants in finding volunteer opportunities and connecting the experience to career and employment goals. ● Recruit and coordinate volunteers to support participants in their employment activities. ● Research prospective employers and identify the potential for matching them with program participants.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications ● Must have reliable transportation to travel to the service site. ● Must be 18 years of age or older by your start date. ● Must have at least a high school diploma or recognized equivalent by your start date. ● Must be either a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. ● Must pass mandatory pre-service background check. ● Must not have served 4 or more prior terms of service with AmeriCorps State and National programs. ● Speak, read, and write English fluently. ● Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. ● Demonstrated experience with intermediate computer skills (word processing, internet, data entry, e-mail, comfort with database and software use, etc.). ● Desire to affect systems change at the ground level; ability to connect the small details to the bigger picture. ● Ability to build relationships and work with people of different cultures and backgrounds. ● Willingness to commit to a full term of service. ● Dedication to community service. ● Strong planning and time-management skills. ● Consistent follow-through. ● Ability to accept and incorporate constructive feedback from site supervisor and program staff. ● Strong personal standards of excellence, ethics, and integrity.
